After camp was over the whole group stayed in contact with each other despite of the miles now between us. Kenny and I began to text each other frequently, though there was no romantic interest right away. However, texting eventually lead to phone calls and phone calls lead to meeting up with each other in groups with our friends. As we got to know each other more and more, we began to to become really good friends. It wasn't until two months after meeting and talking that we decided to date.
Throughout the next 2 years, despite being over 2 hours apart we found as many opportunities as we could to see each other and our relationships grew stronger.
We celebrated family weddings together,
supported each other as we graduated high school,
and cheered on the Jackrabbits once we were finally able to be located in the same town.
On August 30th, after another long summer apart as I served at Inspiration Point and he worked at home, Kenny and I visited Falls Park in Sioux Falls. It was a gorgeous day and we spent the afternoon exploring the beautiful waterfalls and catching up from a long summer of not seeing each other. Towards the end of our time there we found a quiet spot on the bank of the river. We sat on the rocks and continued our conversation. Kenny had asked me multiple times throughout the summer what my favorite part was, but each time I could never condense it down to just one thing. So he instructed me to just sit, close my eyes, and think about it. I opened my eyes and Kenny was on one knee in the sand holding a beautiful ring in his hand. He smiled at me and asked, "How about now?"
We are beyond excited to enter this new adventure. We want to thank all of our loved ones for the unconditional support they have given us. We ask that you would pray for us as we begin this new chapter of our lives and that God would continue to use us for His glory.
